Is it funny that my boy is wearing a long-sleeved shirt to welcome August ’round again? Ah, the beauty of the Michigan summer. Long sleeves, optional, but often appreciated after 6 p.m.
We are enjoying the last true month of summer-so thankful we live in a world of seasons. So many things to explore and grow and eat that are unique to each quarter of God’s masterful design. This August we are enjoying local-grown tomatoes and sweet corn. We are running up and down the sand dunes.
Be assured, there are dirty diapers and brother squabbles, messy kitchen floors, a parched front lawn and bedtime meltdowns. Real life marches on, no matter the season. But today, on this beautiful August afternoon, I lift my eyes to the hills and whisper these wise and holy words:
. . . whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. {philippians 4:8}
