Summer’s End

Today marks the unofficial last day of summer. I feel like we have lived this summer in a big way-from strawberry jam in June to sweet corn in August; from running barefoot first thing in the (early!) morning to staying up for sunsets in the evening; we’ve eaten too many ice cream cones to count. I’ve forgotten how to use the stove because we have lived by the grill. We’ve gardened and worked in the yard until we had blisters. We have done summer proud, I’d say. This mama is tired! Ready for the cozy days of fall to come.

Last night of summer

But for today, here is a photo essay of our summer in Michigan. At the start of this summer I set a personal goal to create one photo each day. Some of these are more “lifestyle” (i.e. how it really happened/looked) and some of these are more art (how it felt/how I saw things as an artist). I shared one photo each day on my Photography page on Facebook but wanted to have all of my favorites in one place now that the project is coming to a close!

  1. This is such a beautiful testament to how much love you have for your family, and for how important it is for you to be near the sea.

  2. Erin,
Your photos take my breath away..and I stand back in awe of the gift God has given you. I know this may sound weird, but I am not a strange person , God is my witness..do you ever sell copies? I have looked for just the right photo to enlarge for our unfinished but hopefully soon..basement..which I want to have a cottage feel. Some of the photos just speak of the awesomeness of God’s nature and remind me of growing up near the ocean in California.. I wish my dad could have taken photos of my brother and I in such a way but…anyway..just thought I’d ask..or if you know of anywhere else that would sell something similar with that same feel. Thanks

  3. Beautiful and timeless! They look like they could have been taken today or 50 years ago.
