We took Wynn to Michigan last weekend. It was my first chance to take him to my “home” and it was so special.
It was his first trip to the beach as well-it was chilly but still beautiful.
Oh the hours my sisters and I spent swimming in these waters growing up.
It is a special childhood, one spent near the water.
I had my camera with me everywhere we went it seems, so I took some pictures to post of some of my favorite houses in my hometown to share with all of my fellow house-lovers . . .
Brick beauty
This one is on the market.
It reminds me of the house in the movie Father of the Bride.
Victorian my dad lived in as a child.
It is inside of an incredible cool historic building.
She’s a lover!
I was able to spend some quality time with my dad, walking the woods around my parents’ house. I am to these woods as Heidi is to the mountain. I swear there are calming healing properties here, like sweet balm to the soul.
Murphy and I with the 2010 to-be Christmas tree.
Spring was just starting to break through the earth. You cannot appreciate spring fully until you have waited out a Michigan winter.
Be sure to check back Friday-I am participating in the Poppies at Play Tour of Homes and promise to have a picture or two of Wynn’s (still not quite finished) nursery!
Wow gorgeous photos Erin. Thanks for sharing!
Love all of those homes! The house your dad lived in as a child would be so neat to own…great memories!
Beautiful pictures and home town. We are heading to Mexico in 2 weeks! Can’t wait for the beach.
Wow! Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing! Where is the school house house? I’m trying to picture where it is at? Great post, you made me miss home. I rarely get there, and when I do its a quick day trip. We might have to consider a “mini” vacation.
Oh how I miss Lake Michigan. I, too, grew up with summers at the beach on the Michigan shoreline and am so sad that my children won’t have the many hours digging holes and building castles that I had. But we are going and spending a week this summer – your post made me look forward to our trip all the more!
Great pictures Erin. What part of Michigan? My hubby grew up with Lake Huron in his backyard (literally)…East Tawas. It is truly beautiful up there around the lakes.
Beautiful, and I love your future home in the old schoolhouse! Amazing!
Awww! Makes me wish I was back in my homestate of Michigan, although I was on the east side of the state which isn’t nearly as pretty.
Did you post Wynn’s birth story? I must have missed it. π
Looks like you had a sweet trip back home. That lake is beautiful and I love that sweet little “dream” house of y’alls! May all your dreams come true.
Murphy is really cute.
Can’t wait to see the pics of the nursery! Happy Day, The Lady
I love home! My mom and I love to walk at Magoon Creek – why did it never take my breath away when I was little??? It’s just incredible!
so glad to see these beautiful pictures! Can’t wait to see your little man’s room!
Beautiful photos and yay for the shout out to your home, Michigan, it’s my home too!

So many beautiful photos! I’m a Michigan girl myself and I love it here. The house your dad grew up in is beautiful and so is the house you wish to own someday. Lastly, what a beautiful puppy! Looks like you had a great trip home.
House #2 and your dad’s childhood home are both my dream house. I can have two, right? π Also, that puppy is my favorite. Every puppy is my favorite.
We used to buy spinach from the schoolhouse house! And the brick house with the round-top door has always been one of my favs. We grew up in the best town EVER!
simply lovely! and that puppy, oh my goodness, makes my heart melt!!!
glad you had a great trip!
xoxo
Beautiful pictures Erin! I’ve now been in FL for nearly 4 years and I miss seeing the way spring flowers push their way through the dirt and rise up, like they did in Ontario. It IS such a wonderful time after a long harsh winter.
Murphy is so adorable! I love that the Christmas tree is already picked out for this year!
Oooh, drooling over these house pictures. What a fabulous place to grow up!
