In an effort to get my mind off my ever-present nausea, Mr. Marvelous and I went to a local antique store this weekend and picked up this fabulous little armoire for the nursery! I’m just in love with it! I planned on priming and painting it white but the bright funky blue is sort of growing me! Thoughts on this??
Close up of the great carved woodwork.
Love, love, love this….I would keep it blue. It really is a beautiful blue!
I love it just as is!
LOVE the blue- I would defiantly leave it. It wouldn’t have it’s spark in white
Lady it looks great the way it is! even if it’s a girl (fingers crossed ’cause they’re just way more fun than boys who pee in your face ;)) you could dress it up with girly clothes inside π
Can’t wait to see you, hope you’re feeling better by then.
Congratulations! I love the blue. I would ABSOLUTELY keep it this color!
Keep it blue, keep it blue.
keep it blue! super cute.
i guess i’m a blog lurker… i rarely leave a comment, but I wanted to tell you that i am excited for your pregnancy! π God is awesome.
i also just read that you grew up on Lake Michigan:) i live about 5 min from lake MI π love it!
Where have I been? I didnt even know you were pregnant! Congrats!!! I love the blue!!
I love the blue. Depending on your color palette for the little guy or gal, I’m sure you could work the blue in either way. Great find!
My grandbaby is expected at the same time as baby Marvelous, how exciting!
I LOVE the blue… adorable! And blue can go both ways depending on how you accessorize it. Gosh what a great find! And congrats on the baby– what a wonderful gift from above!
Totally cute the color that it is, you can always refinish some time in the future when your baby is a little older and ready for a more mature room, or you decide to repurpose it.
Blue is perfect as is!! And that means you can accessorize it with white!
I love that shade of blue!!! It’s beautiful. I’m a new reader of your blog, and I’m feeling so inspired :)! Thank you.
Fabulous in blue. Blue could work for a girl’s room if you style it right. π
Apparently I was the only one thinking white – dang my love of all things white and cottage-ish. Great find!
I would leave it blue, but test for lead…you can always seal it with several coats of clear, matte polyurethane. Add fabrics in toile (like your master),paisley, stripes and ticking in browns and taupes and you can have a country, coastal, cottagy nursery for either a boy or girl that will fit right in with the rest of your beautifully decorated homm! Congratulations on this blessing and wishing you many more!!

I really love the blue color, too…but I know it would also look fabulous white! It is a great piece of furniture!
Congratulations on your baby news! So, so exciting! I hope you are feeling well!
I love the blue! So sweet. Congrats on your pregnancy! I think your blog is great and can’t wait to see more. Jen
I LOVE that blue. But if you painted it and let the blue come through that would be cool too. Or just white. But I like the blue.
Going with the flow and LOVE the Blue! I think that it would be so fun with some type of vintage paper lining the backs of the shelves w/ cool numbers and letters… Anyhow! Nice work mama *wink* π
Ooo…I LOVE it just the way it is!
Blessings,
Shilo
I, too, vote blue!!!! Hey, I should write poems!
It is really cute.
I hope you feel better real soon. Rhon
LOVE it! And I think that you should totally keep it that color. Its such a pretty blue!
Please don’t change the blue! I adore it! Are those glass panneled fronts? How simply divine! I’m very thrilled for this purchase and can’t wait to see what it inspires for the rest of the room.
I love that you have your hand on your belly. So sweet!
I LOVE that blue, but honestly, I think it’s just the wall behind it. I’d MUCH rather a white and then paint the BACK of the cabinet a nice funky color. I love that look and it really showcases those big beautiful cabinets!!
Oh, it’s perfect! Your nursery is going to be absolutely beautiful, I just know it!! The blue is very pretty. I don’t know if I would leave it blue or not though. I think that I would have to leave it that color for a while, and see if it works with the design of the room, and if I still like it later on. If not, then I would paint away! Have fun with the decorating, and I hope your nausea will subside soon. I hated being sick all the time, but it is definitely worth in the end! π
it is so perfect and by the time you add things to it it will be even more stunning! I am SO excited to see your nursery!!

Oh, I like it blue, too! Even if it was the only blue piece in the nursery, it has such character and charm!
I hope you feel better soon!
Wow! I love that blue…wouldn’t change a thing!
Congratulations! My daughter, is now in the 2nd trimester and feeling like a new woman! Hang in there! …and as if you need to hear it again, I really like the blue! Boy or girl. Can’t wait to see the finished nursery!
Blue skies!
I guess I just now figured out you were expecting. Hooray! Congrats! I would totally keep it blue. It’s good for either a boy or girl. I was very, very sick with my last two pregnancies. What I thought helped with the nausea was sucking on jolly ranchers. I would say peppermints but that taste didn’t really work for me, made me more nauseous, hehe.
Looks totally fun for either a boy or girl!
Happy decorating!
Donna
Oh, don’t change the blue, it’s fabulous ! If it’s a girl, I’d probably spray paint the hardware white, then wallpaper the back in a pretty floral or modern print. If it’s a boy, then consider a different color interior, perhaps chocolate brown. Then paint the hardware to coordinate. Either way, it’s a wonderful piece and you completely scored.
You are radiant by the way.
Kate
i like the blue! cute purchase!
Keep the blue! It’s so darling. Even if you want most everything else white this could be a great focus piece. Did you consider making this into your changing table?
First of all, you look beautiful! I’m really happy for you.
I really like the blue.
Leave it blue! Leave it blue!! Don’t you dare change it : )!!
I like the blue, it’s a pretty color. If you find out you’re having a girl and want to girl-ify it, you could always paint the outside white, pink or cream and paint or wallpaper the inside of it to add interest. π Either way, it’s a great find!
The blue is pretty! Great find! If you do decide to change it later you could always paint the outside cream, or white and then put some pretty patterned paper on the inside or paint it a fun, bright color. π
Can’t go back once you paint over that blue. But I know the temptation of wanting to DO something to a great new find. But should you be painting while pregnant? You can always do it later if you change your mind.
And I think blue works equally well for a boy or a girl.
Totally diggin’ the blue. If you have a girl, the blue might be an oasis amongst the parade of pink stuff you’ll get!!!
BTW – I never properly congratulated you…I’m so grateful to God for His faithfulness demonstrated in your life!!
hey erin! its perfect! i love it! i am so glad you found such a sweet and perfect piece!
I’d keep it as is…the blue is really charming and a great distress paint job at that.
A little late here – but leave it BLUE! It will look so much more “one of a kind”~!
Oh, I just love this armoire. The blue is fabulous! I would keep it as is. Over the next few months you will know for sure whether to paint it or not. You could always put some cute scrap book paper on the back wall! Love it.
Blessings,
Marie
