Country Girl: A follow-up

After reading my blog post, “Country Girl,” my dad sent me the listing for this 1900s farmhouse on 38 acres (!!!!!!) in lovely teeny tiny Kaleva, Michigan (population 509). And here is the kicker. It is for sale for $119,000.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Look how similar the house looks to the “dream house” I posted in “Country Girl.” I’m sure with some photoshop, this old girl would look as good as the inspiration photo. πŸ™‚

Here are the other photos from the listing.
Original built-ins would look wonderful with a coat of white paint and fresh hardware.

Scary wood panelling would look charming white-washed; see how Layla transformed hers!
Kitchen-so okay, needs to be gutted, but at 119k, that’s probably doable πŸ™‚
Original outbuilding

And of course, mature fruit trees!

Such fun, thanks Dad!

Sadly, we will have to pass on this property for now as I don’t feel God pulling us toward a move right now, but as for the future . . . only He knows.

And in the meantime, a girl can dream.

  1. I can’t believe how cheap property and homes are in some states. Thirty-eight acres and a home for $119k? You can’t even get a run-down house here on a lot for under $300k! Looks like a good project for the right person. I see the outbuilding being an art studio…a guest cottage…an adorable barn for a pony! πŸ˜‰

  2. Pony Girl, I know it! I’d be so interested to see the place in person to know what the scoop is on the low price.

  3. Thank you so much, Tanna!! I will try to play by the rules in due time, but for now it’s so cute it’s going in my sidebar! πŸ™‚

  4. 119,000 are they serious? That is a steal for 38 acres along with an old home. My oh my I would love to get my hands on that. However, I would have some upset grandparents if I moved their grandbabies from Missouri.
