Back at the Beach Cottage

Happy summer, friends!

Summer is in full swing and we are back in Michigan at our beach cottage until Labor Day.  It was somewhat of a relief to get away from all the projects I had ongoing at our new house in North Carolina and to just be for the summer.  My housekeeping skills are blessedly well-matched with a 1,000 square foot cottage.

Now that we are settled for the summer and getting into a routine, I will be posting regularly again.*

So please do stay and “spend” the summer with us here on the beach.

My summer bucket list includes making jars and jars of jam, taking hundreds of pictures, spending some time every day at the beach with my babes and getting that weird flip-flop tan from living in flip flops for weeks at a time.   As I was telling my little boy tonight at bedtime, “This is my Father’s World,” and we just need to soak up every bit of his creation that we can . . . sandy toes, drippy ice cream cones and brilliant sunsets.

Welcome, summer.

*Disclaimer: This blog is inspired by Phillipians 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  I am a busy mom in the trenches on a daily basis working to serve big and love bigger.   It is crazy hard.  We don’t necessarily lay around the beach all day long eating ice cream and posing for perfect pictures but we do seek out the good stuff as much as we possibly can and I bare my heart here by focusing on and sharing what is lovely.  My hope is to motivate others to “think about such {pure, lovely, admirable} things” as well.   I believe that God blesses obedience with joy and that he wants to give all of His children a heart of joy and a song of praise.
