Fall Reading List

I mentioned some time ago that I would share a fall reading list with you faithful blog readers. The last time I blogged about novels, a kind commenter introduced me to Francine Rivers and really, my reading-life hasn’t been the same since! So following my recommendations, please feel free to leave a comment with what you are reading and loving lately. I seem to be going through about a book a week right now and I’m always looking for a new good read!

Rare & Beautiful Treasures’ Fall Reading List:

The following is a collection of books I have recently read and loved, along with those I plan to read this fall.

I recently finished this book and it really blew me away. It is a fast read, once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down. When it is over, you simply will not be able to forget it.

In many ways, it reminded me of The Glass Castle, which is a memoir, and one of my all-time favorite reads:

This fall I have also read and loved The Last Queen:
On the non-fiction front, I have been reading Passionate Housewives Desperate for God.

This weekend (tonight!), I am going to be starting this:

And then hopefully starting on this:

Please leave a comment, for me (and all the other readers), of things you have recently read and loved, or that you plan to read this fall!

Blessings and Happy Cuddling-by-the-fire-fall-reading,

  1. I am currently reading The Glass Castle, and I am really loving it! I am participating in June’s book club over at Bye Bye Pie blog.

Did you know she (Jeanette Walls, author of The Glass Castle)just published a novel loosely based on her grandmother’s life? I can’t recall the name right now, but I’m sure google will tell you.

  2. I’m not much of a reader, but my husband can read a book a day if he had that many, lol.

These look really interesting though, I may pick up a few!

    Thanks!

  3. I read Forgotten Garden – it’s a great read! Just read Life and Death in Shanghai by Nien Cheng, about the Cultural Revolution in China. What a staggeringly good read! An old book but so honest and raw. I’m going to check out some of your recommendations! Wendy xxx

  4. These look like great reads. My husband actually just finished reading The Glass Castle. He is a motivational speaker and the class he was speaking to had just finished that book. He wanted to be on the up and up with what the class was reading to make his message even more relevant and said it was great. Now that I’m seeing this again, I think I’ll pick it up from our library for myself this time. 🙂

  5. “Glass Castle” is amazing. I have just finished “Redeeming Love”… what a beautiful portrayal of the book of Hosea… simply beautiful! I also just read “The Music Teacher” that I won’t recommend and am now reading two more and will add “Emma and Me” to my pile by the bed! Thank you for sharing.

  6. AH! MY FRIENDS AND I JUST STARTED A BOOK CLUB! THE GLASS CASTLE AND THE FORGOTTEN GARDEN ARE ON OUR LIST. BUT FIRST WE ARE READING “THE BRIEF & WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WOA” LAST NIGHT I FINISHED “SHE’S COME UNDONE” I FOUND IT A THE GROCERY FOR FIFTY CENTS-IT’S AN OLDER BOOK BUT A REALLY GOOD ONE-IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY READ IT DO. HUGS,S

  7. Fracine Rivers is my ALL time favorite!! I think I’ve read everything she’s written.

I’ve recently enjoyed reading some of Beverly Lewis- she writes Christian fiction- but it’s all set in Pennsylania in Amish communities. I’ve learned a lot about the Amish and what it really means for one of them to convert to Christianity. very interesting and easy to read.

  8. Oh, I just love a great reading list by a smart gal like you. Thanks so much for sharing. Can’t wait to pick up a few of your recommended reads.

  9. I was about to recommend The Forgotten Garden. My BFF recently passed it along to me and it is absolutely on my all-time-favorites list. There is a subtle beauty to that book that is stunning to me. I am starting on another of her boosk ASAP. ~Merry

  10. Heart in the Right Place by Carolyn Jourdan. My mother, who usually provides and/or suggests my reading list, just brought it along with a stack of other books, declaring that I must read it first. I’ve been spending many hours nursing/pumping as I have a new baby, but really I just consider it time to escape and read another chapter. Get this book soon!

  11. I LOVE The Glass Castle!!! My favorite book of all time is Tisha, and I just finished The Hunger Games and it’s sequel, which were amazing.

  12. I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and that was a good one. Short, too. For November, my book club is reading The Deep End of the Ocean. It’s not a new one, but it was an Oprah book club pick back in the day.

  13. The only of these I’ve read is Glass Castle (so good!)
I agree w/ the commenter that said Guernsey. It’s one of my new favorits. Happy Reading!
