Fall Dinner Parties

I am starting to think about hosting a “fabulous fall” dinner party. All of the fall tablescapes out there are so inspiring! We finally bought a dining room table (!!!!) and I’m itching to put it to good use.

The last time I had a fall dinner party was three years ago at our old house. That party was put together in an afternoon, and on a dime (if that).

The house did not have a dining room, so we just pulled our (truly) old kitchen table into the living room and I threw a fall-ish piece of fabric from my sewing box over top for a makeshift table cloth.

I painted small terre cotta pots with chalkboard paint and then used chalk to make the pots into place settings. A few fresh clippings from my fall garden were included.
I think I might want to do something slightly more fancy this year . . . who would like to come to my dinner party? πŸ™‚
Any plans for entertaining this fall? Do share!

  1. Oooh you must share pics of your new dining room table! πŸ™‚

And I would love to be a guest at any of your dinner parties. <3

  2. ooo ooo I do! If only I lived closer. I am starting to have an itch to entertain myself; but for us we’re letting our friends do it; wine/cheese, house warmings and of course Halloween!
Big hugs to you & baby.

  3. You know my two favorite words!! “DINNER PARTY!”” YOU BETTER use that table! It’s gorgeous!! Cant’wait to see!

  4. I’ve been thinking about a fall dinner party too. I LOVE your inspiration photos…very elegant. I was leaning toward doing something a little more casual outside to take advantage of the cooler weather (well, when it actually makes it’s way to Texas). I was picturing tables covered with dropcloths/burlap, hay bales, lanterns, pumpkins and apples in the table decor, and galvanized steel serving buckets and trays.

  5. I LOVE the tablescape! So much eye candy on your blog for inspiration for my beach cottage! Loved looking at all your pics! Thanks for sharing!~aubrey

  7. There is nothing better than sitting around the table with friends and family after eating a fall feast! I decorated our dining room table this past weekend for fall – lots of pumpkins, candles, and gourds! I can’t wait to put it to use either – wish we were closer and I would have you to dinner. Have fun planning your fall event!

  8. I’ll take the setting out by the lake, please. In fact, no one even needs to feed me anything. I’ll just drink in those beautiful surroundings! ::sigh::

  9. I think a Fabulous Fall Dinner party is a great idea!!! If you decide to do it please post lots of pictures, I just may need to copy you (as I have no creative bone in my body.) Loving your blog, I linked to it a few days ago and then forgot to let you know. Hope you don’t mind.
    Cheers.

  10. What a better way to break in the new dining room table set than to throw a cozy fall dinner party?? I’m in love with the post after this one, the HGTV Rate my Space- that mantel is SO inspiring!
