Winter Nesting

I have a little secret.

I took the whole week off from work, just to be at home.

Just me, baby, my kitty, and a hot mug of half-caf.

Today, life feels wonderful.

The ground is snow-covered but the sun is shining brilliantly.

On the agenda for the week: NURSERY.

I am making his crib bedding and all of my fabrics have arrived so I am ready to start sewing. The palette: cream, soft sagey green, soft baby blue. I even found the perfect chandelier for a great price. I can’t wait to share this truly inspiring space! I may even do my first video tour for you friends.

Here is an entirely unrelated but exceedingly gorgeous photo of Rachel Ashwell’s breakfast room. Between the coffee, the sunshine, the 10 hours I slept last night, and the beauty of Ms. Ashwell’s abode, I’m sufficiently motivated to take on the nursery (and the day).

An entire week of stay-cation= probably the last time I will ever have this kind of alone time in the next 18 years=the best Christmas present ever.

Hope the sun is shining where you are . . .

  1. Erin,
I am so glad you have a week to work on the nursery. I can’t wait to see what you make for your precious son. I made my second son’s bedding, and I loved it. The crib skirt was long, all the way to the ground, a sage green. However boys #3 and #4 had to settle for the store bought stuff. Just didn’t have the time.
I’m so excited for you and your little one. My favorite memory of my first born son was waltzing around the room with his tiny body in my arms each night. I had the most beautiful CD of Christian lullabies that made my heart spill over with joy each time I heard it. When your new little one arrives, do a waltz for me, okay? It’s priceless.
    Blessings,
    Traci

  4. I’m making my grandbaby’s crib bedding too. A soft seafoam blue, brown and cream toile of little boys playing, cream minky and a stripe with all the colors. I can’t wait to see yours… and mine too for that matter! After I put away all the Christmas stuff, it’s time to get started!

  9. Woohoo! I’ve been waiting for a nursery post since you first announced your joyous news.

Enjoy every single second of your week at home. You deserve it!

  10. I did the same thing! I took off all week to spend with Madeline and I am loving every minute of it. I can’t wait to see the bedding you are creating and see the nursery come together…just a couple more months before your little guy arrives! Love the chandelier…we put a fade-in, fade out switch on ours. We bought it at Lowes and it was a great investment. I set it low at night so if I have to go in the light is not blinding and gradually comes up..I guess this is more for us, not her πŸ™‚

  11. I have two girls and the last few days had some alone time, thanks to my parents. The problem is I suddenly could do everything so much faster by myself and ran out of things to do, how funny is that. So I made them T-shirts and blogged about it. I mean whats a momma to do. Good luck on the sewing and HAPPY NEW YEAR
