A Mother of Two

It is said that it is the nature of Grace to fill the places that have been empty.

On the canvas of my life this living Grace breathed mercy and, in early January, He drew a second line.

And now I am the mother of two.

Two!

My second babe is the size of a {small} plumb; my {big} heart; His {infinite}grace.

All mothers are different I suppose but I never feel like more of a mother than during the first trimester.  For me it is a cross between a continual stomach flu and being struck by a mac truck on the interstate.  It takes all that I've got to keep putting one foot in front of the other and to make it to the end of the day.  I am very much a mother of two.

My dear friend told me this week that parenting {and therefore pregnancy!} is so difficult because God is making it purposefully impossible.  What?! Why???  So that it is always SLANTED TOWARD JESUS. Keeping us near Him. Keeping us in prayer and constantly crying out to Him.

Today I am crying out to him with joy and praise {and prayers that He would continue to restore my weary soul}

Baby Marvelous Number 2 is due in September.

Because Grace is amazing.   Just like we have been singing all along.

How sweet the sound.

You are SO blessed! We would have loved a larger family (we have one daughter 4 1/2), but it seems that God gave us just the family He wanted for us.

Congrats, Erin and family. I know you have been praying and asking and wanting and I know that you are now rejoicing in Him for this babe. I'll pray for a healthy pregnancy for you as I know how very important that is. If you can keep down nothing else in this very trying first trimester, try some of the smoothies you've been pinning. I know the ones I drank were helpful for me!!

Your journey, and the way God is leading in that journey, take my breath away. You have realized, haven't you? You got a baby for Christmas, just as you asked Him, just as you believed Him for. This baby must have been conceived on, near, or shortly after your Dec. 19 post . . . maybe even ON Christmas?

I'm praising Him for your wonderful miracle, and keeping you in my prayers.

So, so happy for you & your precious family. I love your blog, and the fact that your "mother's heart" shines through each post. As a fellow mom to littles, here is a quote that I have been encouraging myself with: “Mothers work wonders once they are convinced that wonders
are demanded of them”. Charlotte Mason

What an amazingly wonderful gift! I have said that the first half of pregnancy is like an alien has taken over your body. Everything feels so strange and foreign, yet you know that there is something in there! Not nearly as romantic as your words, but I didn't feel too romantic in the first trimester! Hoping you feel human again very soon!

so very happy for you, erin!
I know exactly how to pray for your weary soul during this first trimester. I, too, was sick with my pregnancies...sick, sick, SICK.

praying that he maintains your joy, which is only something that God can do when you're this sick.

Congratulations! That phrase "purposefully impossible" has been repeating in my thoughts ever since I read your blog a few days ago. Its true about motherhood and God's design for us.
