Lay Your Burden Down

I have a dear friend.

My dear friend has a very wise mother.

This very wise mother has a saying that I am continually mindful of:

"Just be gentle with yourself."

When you are tired or life seems particularly hectic or uncertain or just plain upside down, take a deep breath and just . . . be gentle with yourself.

After all, whatever the burden, it is not yours to carry.

So set it down.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

By His grace, you are royalty.
You are the precious child of the King of Kings.

I think it is always hard, especially as a mother, to give to yourself. Thanks for the reminder.

I am tired... and feeling the burden of cancer. How do I let go of that? The reality keeps coming back.

Beautiful thoughts. I could just imagine laying my burden down and instead picking up one of those wonderful glasses of lemonade. Aaah, blissful.

I am in love with every picture that you posted!

Also, thank you Wise Mother for the reminder of gentleness, not just with others, but also with ourselves.
I am going through some hard things right now and the scripture that you posted will be copied down and put into my wallet. Thanks for sharing, and just know that this post helped at least one person today!
